PacifiCare's Senior health care suite, Secure Horizons, has nearly a million members, making it one of the largest Medicare Advantage contracting health plans in the country.
Through a contract with the federal government, Medicare pays Secure Horizons a fixed amount each month for each of its senior members. This is good news for you! It means that Secure Horizons can offer excellent benefits to Medicare members at low rates.
Secure Horizons Medicare Advantage Plans can offer you all of the benefits that Medicare offers while charging low or no premiums, deductibles or copayments. What’s more, Secure Horizons requires almost no paperwork on your part.
Secure Horizons has a variety of plans to choose from, depending partly on where you live. You can get prescription drug coverage built in, for example, no drug coverage, or enhanced drug coverage. It’s up to you. Choose other benefits that best meet your needs.
How do the Secure Horizons Advantage Plans work?
As a member, you choose a doctor from the Secure Horizons network. If you’re not happy with your choice, Secure Horizons will be glad to help you select another.
Who is eligible?
Any senior citizen can join, as long as you meet the following basic requirements:
- You are enrolled in Medicare Part B and are entitled to (or enrolled in) Part A.
- You live in one of the Secure Horizons service areas. To locate the service areas, see the website or contact phone numbers listed below.
- You must not have End Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure) or be on regular kidney dialysis.
How does a Secure Horizons plan work with the new Medicare prescription drug policy?
In spite of some of the scary stories in the media these days about the new Medicare prescription drug plan, seniors can still get good prescription drug coverage. Many Secure Horizons Advantage Plans offer reasonable premiums for drug coverage with no deductible!
You also won’t have a big coinsurance bill with Secure Horizons. For each prescription you use, you pay a small amount (copayment). For most of plans, your copayment will be less than $9 for generic drugs (less than $30 for brand-name products).
Best of all, with most Secure Horizons plans, your coverage remains constant, with no so-called “donut hole” (when you must pay 100% of your drug costs) and no upper limit.
