Chartered in 1933, Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBSMN) became Minnesota’s
first health plan. A nonprofit organization, Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Minnesota is the largest health plan in Minnesota,
providing health insurance policies to over 2.6 million people.
They also serve as a health care safety net for more than 126,000
Minnesotans who are enrolled in government-sponsored programs,
172,000+ members through its Medicare supplement programs, and
140,000 Medicare members through employment groups. Additionally,
Blue Cross provides coverage for employees of 315 public schools
and 345 government agencies.
